Life more abundantly.
“We live with wonderful expectation because Jesus
Christ rose from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 NLT
My thoughts and comments today are about,
“Easter Expectation.”
We must face a simple fact about life. We are mortal. Mortality can neither be disguised nor ignored. Before sin entered our world in Eden’s garden, God created us for immortality. And the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross bought our redemption.
The Apostle Paul explained, 17 ”For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17 NLT.
We ignore the eventuality of death as much, and as long, as we can. Mortality cannot be disguised. The Bible is clear, and the truth is plain. “No one can escape the power of the grave.” Psalm 89:48 NLT. Despair shoves hope aside. The Good News of the Gospel restores hope and expectation.
“We live with wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 NLT. Jesus’ resurrection validates that He is the Lord of life and the conqueror of death. “God raised Jesus from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death, because it was not possible for death to keep its hold on Him.” Acts 2:24.
Resurrection is the inarguable demonstration of God’s power conquering your worst and last enemy. Everything else you may ever face is minor in comparison. In Christ you can, “live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 NLT. Your life can be filled with hope that does not despair. It is your choice to make.
Easter is much more than a fact of history. Easter is the truth of a current event more relevant to your well-being than today’s headlines. Easter makes sense of everything that has not made any sense at all. The empty Garden tomb made sense of the agony of Gethsemane and the cruelty of Calvary.
Jesus’ resurrection introduced possibilities beyond anything His followers had previously imagined when standing in the darkening shadow of the cross. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection made every impossibility become a glorious possibility both then and now.
Jesus’ resurrection shouted truth with a clarity that nullified every question, doubt, or fear. This Easter can do the same for you now. Jesus’ resurrection also guarantees yours. Death will not be the last word spoken over your life. Life is the final word spoken over you – abundant life now and life forever.
“We live with wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 NLT. Easter is all about a hope-filled life every day. Jesus was clear about His purpose, “I have come that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 NKJ.
My prayer for you today is to live with a joy that rests on the truth of Jesus’ resurrection.
