Heaven Is Where You Will Finally Feel AT Home.
”If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me, that you also may be where I am.” John 14:3 NIV.
My thoughts today consider, “Heaven is Home.”
Your lifetime is a search for the place you can truly call home. Home is where your heart longs to be. A house can be as simple as a shelter from the elements. A house is a shelter, but a home is much more. Be it a humble cottage or impressive mansion, a home is a safe haven where your heart rests in peace, trusting in the sincere love of those with whom we share it.
For too many people, their search ends in futility and failure. Instead of what fits and fills them, they feel only emptiness. For too many people, their search is a lifelong quest for a place that fits and fulfills them. However unrelenting their efforts or expense, their search remains unfulfilling.
You will find the place for which you seek when you completely submit your heart to God with honesty and humility throughout your search. Jesus was specific, “Your Heavenly Father knows what you need. 33 But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will worry about itself..” Matthew 6:32-34 NIV.
In moments when hope and help seem distant and dim, you will discover the sovereign and sufficient grace of God. Jesus asked a pertinent question of His followers. ”Why do you have so little faith? 31So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33Seek first the Kingdom of God[above all else and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:30-33 NLT. Read those words again, slowly, and thoughtfully. The promise Jesus gave rests on the solid rock of your spiritual priority, “the Kingdom of God.” Jesus is clear about His promise, “everything you need.”
God never promises everyone everything they want in this life. That would not be good for any of us. Jesus reminded us, “to not set your heart on what you will eat or drink, do not worry about that.” Read Luke 12:27-29. NIV.
Our loving Father gave His Son to be our Savior, who prepares a place for us to be with Him eternally. How does that happen? The Bible is clear and simple. “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NLT.
This year, my family and friends celebrated my 80th birthday. I find myself reflecting joyfully about life, and more gratefully about my future than I did in earlier years. I have so much more behind me, and around me, and ahead for me. And Gayle and I have so many loved ones waiting in Heaven to welcome us home – my maternal and paternal grandparents, our parents and relatives, a grandson, and many dear friends will be there to greet us. Heaven is more real than the world in which we now live. In Heaven, there will be no more worries or unanswered questions, no strife or evil, no cruelty or pain, no poverty or sickness, no death. Heaven will be all that you could imagine, and much more.
Th final book of the Bible declares, “And then I heard a loud voice from the Throne, saying, “See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.”5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true, accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy.” Revelation 21:3-5 Amplified Bible.
Heaven is where your heart needs to be.
My prayer for you today is that your heart is set firmly on Heaven. (John 14:6-7)
