“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV.
If you know what God seeks, you know where to look when you seek for Him.
My thoughts and comments today are about “a fulfilling life.”
People spend a lot of time seeking things they may or may not find. You can expend much personal effort and resources in the process, only to experience disappointment at the elusive nature of what you seek. People seek things like happiness, meaningful relationships, self-realization, purpose, peace of mind, confidence, satisfaction, or maybe just trying to “find themselves.” None of those, or other things like them, are found where you think they would be; they are only found in God, and received from God. Jesus said, “Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” Read Matthew 6:31-33 NAS. A fulfilling life is found when you seek God, not things.
Seekers of God are different; they are not disappointed. Here is God’s promise, “Serve Him with a loyal heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you.“ 1 Chronicles 28:9 NKJV. Consider His encouragement and your clear prerequisite: “When you come looking for Me, you’ll find Me. Yes, when you get serious about finding Me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure that you are not disappointed.” Jeremiah 29:13 MSG. God is not found by casual inquirers. “O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You.”Psalm 63:1 NIV.
Maybe you are asking, “Where would I find God?” I suggest a practical idea that may seem simplistic, yet I believe you will find truth in my suggestion. Jesus said, “Where I am, My servant will also be.” John 12:26 NIV. If you know what God seeks, you will know where He will be found when you seek Him. What does God seek?
God seeks the lost. The Bible says that Jesus came to: “. . seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19:10 NIV. If you are also seeking those who are lost, you will find God there. Jesus was often found with those needing Him most, a friend of publicans and sinners.
God seeks worshipers. Jesus said, “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for anyone who will worship Him that way.” John 4:23-24 NLT. True worship brings you into the presence of God. “Where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 NKJV.
God seeks intercessors. The prophet Ezekiel prophesied the Word of the Lord, “And I sought for a man among them who would . . stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land.” Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV. God will be found in the place of prayer and intercession. See Matthew 18:19 NKJV.
Jesus described the price and joy of finding God in this way, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who when he found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46 NKJV. Any sacrifice is worth the price of finding God. Finding God is where you find a fulfilling life.
My prayer for you today is that you know where to find God, if you lose sight of Him.
